Naperville School District 203 Partnership

Naperville School District 203 Partnership

On September 2 2008 Barretts Home Theater Chicago became a business partner with Naperville School District 203. Since 1978, Barretts Home Theater has operated a store in Naperville and believe the time was right to give back to the community. The partnership was a collaboration for fostering mutually beneficial relationships which enhance student opportunities.

The first student opportunity included Barretts Home Theater Chicago welcoming their first intern from Naperville Central High School. The intern will average 15 hours a week working in the store until the end of the year while getting paid and earning high school credit.

By connecting future employees of the workforce with our industry, we enhance the education experience by making classroom study relative to real life. Students can experience firsthand what transpires while working the sales floor, including marketing and promotions, operations, customer relations, inventory control and the back side including custom installation in the Chicago market.

In December 2006, Barretts Home Theater Chicago introduced three high school bands to celebrate the holidays. Scott Sidler, Music Director at Naperville Central High School said this about the experience, “We had a terrific experience playing at Barrett’s Home Theatre. The students were warmly received by all the staff and provided a venue for our chamber ensembles to perform inside the store. The Barrett family is invested in furthering and supporting music education and the students enjoyed the opportunity to give back to the people who have generously given us so much. Thank you for the support and partnership with District #203 and our students.
We look forward to being back!”

To enhance the education opportunity for students, we gave back to the school community at Naperville Central High School; Barretts Home Theater Chicago donated a projector for music theory.

Knowing we can make a difference in a student’s life while supporting the schools’ program of studies in various capacities will make this Business/Community Partnership rewarding for both organizations.
